Savita Shah Award 2020

We are pleased to announce that, based on the award criteria, there are two recipients for the 2020 Savita Shah Award. They both have done amazing and inspiring work. Our heartfelt Congratulations to these two recipients.
The first receipient of the 2020 Savita Shah Award is is Mike Bismeyer.
Mike Bismeyer lives by the mantra: “ You can be never too kind”. While growing up, Mike was bullied at school. He, along with others, formed a “ United to End Bullying team “and he has spoken across North America about Anti -Bullying by sharing his story passionately and promoting “ Kindness is cool”. Mike is known for his many “ Random Acts of Kindness” and for inspiring many to do the same. Mike has been actively working in raising awareness and helping raise funds for charities such as the local food bank, for recovery homes etc.
The second recipient of the 2020 Savita Shah Award is Sandy Raubenheimer.
Sandy Raubenheimer moved to Canada from South Africa many years ago and lives on a farm just outside of Edmonton. Sandy practices compassion and caring through her kindness by providing her home to neglected and deserted animals. Sandy picks up many of these animals which have been left behind by people who have moved away from their acreage homes or farms. Sandy provides food, shelter and love to these neglected animals. Sandy has called her animal rescue organization “Out of Africa Animal Sanctuary.” The animals she rescues stay with her their entire lives, she rarely adopts them out. She has 113 animals including many horses, cats, dogs, etc. She allows visitors on Sunday to see and visit with the animals. Sandy's entire pay from her work goes to care for these animals. Such remarkable work by Sandy for these animals who have no voice.
Sandy Raubenheimer and Mike Bismeyer are incredibly well - deserving individuals. Our heartfelt Congratulations to Sandy and Mike for being the recipients of the 2020 Savita Shah Award. We are thankful to them for the work they have been doing in the community.
