Reflection
Are we willing to make all sorts of gracious concessions on things that do not matter in life and yet stand unshakable on essentials? To do this, we have to be detached from our opinions.  This doesn't mean being wishy-washy, or lacking strength in our convictions, but that we cultivate the forbearance not to force our opinions on others.

Affirmation
Making a concession because it serves a greater purpose, is graciousness. Yielding to other drivers or holding a door open for someone are two small examples. I take notice of how willing I am to be gracious today.
Daily Action
Give others the right of way, stop and let others pass, hold a door or offer someone a helping hand. Know that even these simple acts of graciousness contribute to a culture of nonviolence.

Action for Teens
Become aware of how sometimes you might act selfishly in your life. Be honest with yourself. Now think of some ways you can change that and become a more gracious person. What changes can you make?
Action for Children
Use good manners all day (and everyday). Remember to say “please” and “thank you”.
