Day 52 ~ March 23 ~ Equality
Quotes
“The earth is the mother of all people, and all people should have equal rights upon it.” ~ Chief Joseph “I speak not for myself but for those without voice...those who have fought for their rights...their right to live in peace, their right to be treated with dignity, their right to equality of opportunity, their right to be educated.” ~ Malala Yousafzai |
Reflection
Equality is important because it is the foundation of any fair society where each member has the opportunity to reach his or her full potential. When you recognize everyone as your equal, including those with whom you disagree, true opportunities for dialogue emerge - opportunities that are denied when you think of yourself as better or less than others. |
Affirmation
Today I make a fearless and thorough assessment of how, when, where, and why I see myself as better than or less than anyone else. Quote
“All men are created equal. It is only men themselves who place themselves above equality.” ~ David Allan Coe |
Daily Action
Be mindful of ways that you see yourself as better than others. When you listen to people today, listen to them as equals; when you speak, speak to others as equals. Enrich your life by considering how you can invite different people and unusual experiences into your life today. |
Action for Teens
“Unity among every living thing.” Today, try to view everyone through loving, non-judgmental eyes. See them as though they are your own brothers and sisters. Action for Children Today, do not compete with your siblings or friends. Make sure everything is fairly divided. |
Quotes
“We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.” ~ Maya Angelou "Every child has a right to health, education, equality and protection. The provision of clean water is a key part of fulfilling this right." - Martin Mogwanja |
