What is a “peace meal”? Gandhi Jayanti, which falls on October 2nd every year, is commemorated to honour the birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Gathering together for a meal on this date provides an opportunity to discuss Gandhi’s messages of non-violence. You may guide the dinner conversation by using some of the following questions:

After the meal we encourage you to use your conversations to inspire the creation of images that represent peace. The acts of eating and creating together helps to build peaceful relationships.
The Foundation would like to invite you, members and non-members, to host your own “peace meals” with family and friends between September 21 (International Day of Peace) and October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti). The gatherings can be large or small, but we invite you to document your “peace meal” (and the art images that you create) using photos, video or text and send them to us by using the contact information found Here We will then, with your permission, share your stories and art images on our website and social media.
To further support the idea of non-violence we suggest that you ask your peace meal participants to bring an item for the Food Bank or other charity that is working towards providing food security for the people in your community. Together we can help to build a more peaceful and caring world.
