                     Day 19 ~  February 17th ~ Acceptance

Picture

Quote
“The greatest gift that you can give to others is the gift of unconditional love and acceptance.” ~ Brian Tracy

Quotes
“Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.”
~ Reinhold Niebuhr

"Sometimes, in order to be happy in the present moment, you have to be willing to give up hope for a better past."
~ Robert Holden

Reflection
Consider the following: Compare and contrast acceptance versus tolerance. (Hint: Do you want to be accepted or tolerated?) How can acceptance lead to inclusivity? How do resentment, fear, criticism and guilt affect people? How can they contribute to violence to the self and others? What gets in the way of letting go of these feelings? Describe self- acceptance. What motivates us to self-acceptance and to improve oneself? (Sue Blocki-McKenna)

Affirmation
“Resentment, fear, criticism and guilt cause more problems than anything else” says author Louise Hay. By choosing not to judge myself and see myself as unique, loving, capable and bright, and by  accepting myself just as I am, I will be modeling nonviolence.  Any time I can take down the walls of defense, I open myself up to a nonviolent way of living.

Daily Action
Today is a day to accept yourself just as you are. You are on the earth to do something no one has ever done before. Choose not to judge yourself (your looks, your capabilities, your quality of life). See yourself as unique, lovable, loving, capable and bright.

Action for Teens
Today is a day to accept yourself just as you are. One of your greatest attributes is your uniqueness. Try your best to accept and approve of yourself and others. Let go of the need to judge.
Action for Children
When we judge others by their looks this is called prejudice. We should accept everyone and include them in our activities. Today (and everyday) show acceptance to others by treating them kindly, talking to them, including them and sharing with them.

"If I could define enlightenment briefly I would say it is the quiet acceptance of what is."
~ Wayne Dyer

Quotes
“There is no substitute for hard work…and there is no substitute for patience and acceptance.” ~ Cesar Chavez

“Of course there is no formula for success except, perhaps, an unconditional acceptance of life and what it brings.”
~ Arthur Rubinstein
