                    Day 11 ~  February 9th ~ Contemplation

Quotes
“The (one) who sat on the ground in (their) tipi meditating on life and its meaning, accepting the kinship of all creatures and acknowledging unity with the universe of things was infusing into (their) being the true essence of civilization.”
~ Chief Luther Standing Bear

“Contemplation is to knowledge, what digestion is to food - the way to get life out of it.” ~ Tryon Edwards

Reflection
Contemplation could simply be defined as “loving presence to what is”, being open to and lovingly responding to things as they really are.
“Contemplation is an all-embracing quality of presence, including not only our own inner experience but also directly perceiving and responding to the situation and the needs of the world around us.” ~ Shalem Institute

Affirmation
How much time do we spend on automatic pilot, not fully aware of the thoughts that have triggered our words and actions? Today I take all the time I need to become fully present to myself.
Daily Action
Take time today to relax, breathe and let your mind be fed by what is good and beautiful. As you think, so you are!

Action for Teens
Today, find some time when you can just sit quietly listening to nothing but your breath.
Action for Children
Today practice contemplation.  Close your eyes and breathe, relax and think about positive things in your life right now. Then open your eyes and write down your good thoughts.

Quotes
“What we plant in the soil of contemplation, we shall reap in the harvest of action.” ~ Meister Eckhart

“The ultimate value of life depends upon awareness and the power of contemplation rather than upon mere survival.” ~ Aristotle
